New Japan Backcountry Map Package

The Niseko and Daisetsuzan Backcountry Maps from Hokkaido Wilds are now available at Backcountry Books as a package for a discounted price.

These maps have been super popular with our ski and snowboard customers over the past two winters and for good reason. They not only function as a traditional map; showing routes on really detailed 1:25,000 mapping, they also have route descriptions on the rear. 

English text guides for Hokkaido are very difficult to find, so the Niseko and Daisetsuzan Backcountry Maps provide some really useful info for anyone visiting these regions to search for powder and adventure. 

Both maps are printed on waterproof paper and have extensive info on access, timings, weather and avalanche concerns. 

Niseko Backcountry Map includes routes in the following zones:

Yotei-zan, Shiribetsu-dake, Niseko Annupuri, Moiwa-yama, Iwaonupuri, Nitonpuri, Chisenupuri, Weisshorn, Shakunage-dake, Shirakaba-yama, Mekunnai-dake, Raiden-yama, Iwanai-dake.

Daisetsuzan Backcountry Map contains routes in the following zones:

Furano-dake, Sandan-yama, Tokachi-dake, Biei-dake, Oputateshike, Asahidake, Kurodake, and the Daisetsuzan Plateau.
